Modern and Ancient Egyptian History

Ancient Egyptian history has long held the interest and imagination of millions of people around the world. Almost everyone has heard about the Great Pyramids and the famous pharaohs of Ancient Egypt such as Ramses II and Tutankhamun, more commonly known as King Tut.

However, there is more to ancient Egyptian history than the Pyramids and a couple of famous pharaohs. The Egyptian civilization is among the oldest and most long-lived civilizations in the world, with a history stretching back to 3000 BC and beyond.

In the thousands of years that the famous pharaohs of ancient Egypt ruled north-eastern Africa, many accomplishments of historical importance have been achieved, such as engineering, architecture, writing, and religion.
